Pioneers' Adam Stone Earns 5th CCAA Golfer of the Week Award
SAN RAMON – Cal State East Bay's Adam Stone was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Golfer of the Week for the week of Mar. 29-Apr. 5.
Stone, a senior from Garstang, England, continues his stellar season by earning his fifth CCAA Player of the Week honor after claiming a share of the individual championship Tuesday afternoon at the 2017 Mustang Intercollegiate, hosted by Western New Mexico at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.
Stone shot three-stright under-par rounds, highlighted by a second round score of 67 on Monday. He finished the 54-hole event at 206 (-10) forcing a one-hole playoff with Colorado School of Mines' George Markham, which also resulted in a tie.
Overall, the reigning CCAA Individual Medalist tallied 15 birdies and was -1 in par-3 scoring, -2 in par-4 scoring and -7 in par-5 scoring.
As a team, the Pioneers finished second (855, -9) behind BYU-Hawaii with the help of a program-best round this season of 279 to close out tournament play.
