Cal State Monterey Bay's Hayley Fein and Julia Garcia Earn CCAA Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week Honors
SAN RAMON – Cal State Monterey Bay freshman Hayley Fein and junior Julia Garcia were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week of Apr. 17-23.
CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week
Fein earned her third overall, second-straight player of the week honor after helping the Otters to 3-1 series win over No. 15 Chico State en route to clinching the CCAA Regular-Season title.
The Sparks, Nev. product earned all three victories, allowing 12 runs on 27 hits, while striking out 13 in 25.2 innings pitched. Fein earned her ninth shutout of the season in Friday's nightcap as she tossed seven innings with only five hits allowed.
She was outstanding in Saturday's opener as well, tossing five inning of two-hit, shutout relief to earn the victory in CSUMB's 12-inning 9-8 win.

CCAA Softball Player of the Week
Garcia, the third baseman from Oxnard, ran her hitting streak to a career-best 13 games, leading the Otters offensively to a 3-1 series win over No. 15 Chico State last weekend.
She hit safely in all four games, finishing eight-for-16 (.500) with a .688 slugging percentage. She totaled two runs, five RBI, one home run, one walk, and struck out just onece in 17 total plate appearances.
Garcia's weekend was highlighted in the Otters' 9-8, 12-inning victory on Saturday morning when she not only connected for a two-out, two-run single to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, but then in 12th she drove in the game-winning run.
On Saturday along she hit 5-for-10 with five RBI, including two game-winning RBI.
