Seawolves' Brigid Ruiz and Wildcats' Ari Marsh Earn CCAA Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week Honors

SAN RAMON – Sonoma State junior Brigid Ruiz and Chico State sophomore Ari Marsh were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week of Mar. 6-12.


CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week

Ruiz, a hurler from Whittier, went 2-0 for the Seawolves as they took three-of-four from Cal State San Bernardino in last weekend's four-game series.

In three appearances Ruiz allowed two earned runs on 12 hits in 13 total innings for a 1.08 ERA. She also totaled seven strikeouts on the weekend.

CCAA Softball Player of the Week

Marsh put up big numbers last weekend to lead Chico State to a 3-1 series win over Stanislaus State.

The San Diego native hit safely in all four games, batting .538 (7-for-13), while compiling a .692 slugging percentage and .625 on-base percentage with totales of six runs, three RBI, three walks, and two doubles. She was also one-for-one in stolen bases.

On Friday, Marsh scored three runs in the nightcap to lead the Wildcats to a 9-1 victory. Then on Saturday, she hit a combined five-for-eight in the two games with two runs scored and two RBI.
