Tritons' Brown and Otters' Garcia Tabbed CCAA Pitcher and Player of the Week
SAN RAMON – UC San Diego sophomore Lauren Brown and Cal State Monterey Bay junior Julia Garcia were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week of Feb. 6-12.
CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week
Brown, a right handed hurler from San Diego, picked up two wins to help the Trtions to eight-straight wins and a four game sweep of Cal State San Marcos to open 2017 CCAA play.
Brown compiled an 2.52 ERA after allowing two earned runs in 13 innings of work. She also allowed just one walk, while striking out seven Cougar hitters.

CCAA Softball Player of the Week
Garcia had an oustanding weekend, hitting .600 with four runs and 8 RBI to lead the Otters to a 3-1 series win against Sonoma State. She also totaled three home runs, one double, a walk, and a stolen base.
The Oxnard native's weekend was highlighted in Saturday's 11-3 nightcap win as she tied two program single-game records with two home runs and six RBI.
Defensively, Garcia handled all 14 chances at third base without and error.
