Dalayna Sampton Nabs CCAA Player of the Week
SAN RAMON, Calif. — UC San Diego senior Dalayna Sampton has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for Nov. 20-26.
Playing host at the UC San Diego Thanksgiving Classic, Sampton helped the Tritons to a weekend split. Hailing from Vallejo, Sampton posted averages of 17.5 points on .524 shooting and 9.0 rebounds per game.
The All-Tournament Team selection recorded 12 points with a 6-for-6 night from the line in Friday’s 75-57 win against Dominican. The following day, she tallied 23 points and nine rebounds in a narrow 82-76 loss to No. 17 Azusa Pacific to round out the weekend.
Preseason favorites to win the league title, the Tritons open CCAA play this week, hosting Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday before traveling to Cal State San Marcos on Saturday.
