Damion Lewis Earns CCAA Player of the Week Honors
SAN RAMON, Calif. — With two shutouts on the weekend, Chico State goalkeeper Damion Lewis has earned California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 25-Oct. 1.
Lewis logged his fifth and sixth consecutive shutouts as the Wildcats held on to the top spot in the CCAA table with a 1–0 victory at Humboldt State and scoreless draw at Sonoma State over the weekend.
Lewis faced 22 shots and made seven saves in the two matches. He made four saves in the overtime victory at Humboldt State, which entered the match as the only other unbeaten team in the conference. The senior from Miami, Fla., turned away three more shots on Sunday and has now kept the ball out of the net in the Wildcats' last 595 minutes and 52 seconds on the pitch.
A five-game homestand is next for the Wildcats, who welcome non-conference foeUC Santa Cruz to Chico on Oct. 7.
