Andrew McCombs Nets Hat Trick En Route to Player of the Week Honors Oct 24, 2017 SAN RAMON, Calif. - After a weekend hat trick, Chico State’s Andrew McCombs has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 16-22. McCombs is sharing this week's distinction with Sonoma State's TJ Perez. McCombs, a true freshman for the Wildcats, notched the 22nd hat trick in Chico State men's soccer history, and the first by a frosh since Chris Wondolwski in 2001, lifting his team to a 6–2 victory Friday night against Cal State East Bay. McCombs tallied his first collegiate goal in the 37th minute and added scores in the 74th and 83rd to round out the impressive night for the Phoenix, Ariz. native. The Wildcats followed up the scoring barrage with a victory against Cal State Monterey Bay to round out their home slate. Chico State closes their regular season campaign on the road with contests at Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State LA. The Wildcats currently sit atop the adjusted CCAA rankings with a 2.5 points per match average.
