Seawolves' Shluker Wins Hanny Stanislaus Invite; Named CCAA Golfer of the Week
SAN RAMON – Sonoma State junior Justin Shluker earned his first California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week nod after finishing first in a field of 88 Division II golfers at the 43rd Annual Hanny Stanislaus Invitaitonal on Tuesday afternoon.
Riding a career-best 65 in the opening round Monday, the Park City, Utah snagged individual medalist honors by three strokes, firing a nine-under par 207.
Shluker shot rounds of 65, 71, and 71 to beat out two of the Conference's top golfers, Chico State's Alistiar Docherty and Lee Gearhart and earn his first-ever collegiate tournament title and lead the 24th-ranked Seawolves to a second-place team finish.
He tied for the most birdies at 16 total for the tournament, while his 65 on Monday tied for the fourth-lowest round in program history.
