Chico State and Humboldt State Highlight CCAA Softball Awards for Second-Straight Week
SAN RAMON – For the second-consecutive week, Chico State and Humboldt State highlight the Conference's weekly awards with the Lumberjacks' Madison Williams and Wildcats' Desiree Gonzalez earning their third California Collegiate Athletic Association Pitcher and Player of the Week nods this season.
CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week
Williams collected a pair of complete-game victories and has moved into a tie for first in the CCAA standings with an improved record of 12-1 after helping the Lumberjacks to wins over visiting Stanislaus State this past weekend.
The junior from Brentwood compiled an ERA of 1.00 after allowing just two earned runs in 14 innings of work. Her weekend totals include offering just eight hits and two walks, while fanning 22 batters.
In Friday's 9-2 victory, despite allowing two runners to cross home plate, Williams gave up just five hits and recorded 13 strikeouts, just one shy of her season-best total. The following day Williams tallied nine punchouts and yeilded only three hits in the Jacks 3-0 shutout.

CCAA Softball Player of the Week
Gonzalez, a senior from Fontana, led a potent Chico State offense to a four-game sweep of Cal State Dominguez Hills over the weekend. She posted four-straight multi-hit games, batting .615 (8-for-13) and delivered five extra base hits for a 1.154 slugging percentage.
The designated player's weekend totals included six RBI, five runs, four doubles, one home run, and one walk.
During Saturday's final doubleheader of the series Gonzalez was outstanding, hitting four-for-five with two runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and a home run.
