61 Basketball Players Receive CCAA Winter All-Academic Honors

2015-16 CCAA Winter All-Academic


SAN RAMON – A combined 61 men's and women's basketball student-athletes were named to their respective California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic teams, it was announced Thursday.

The Conference recognizes individuals for their academic acheivements per season. 274 men's cross country, women's cross country, men's soccer, women's soccer, and women's volleyball student-athletes were named in the fall, bringing the total awarded thus far in 2015-16 to 335. Baseball, softball, and track and field will be honored following their respective 2016 seasons of competition.

Cal State East Bay led all 13 institutions, with eight student-athletes receiving honors. The Pioneers men's basketball team made up five of the eight individuals awarded. Falling just behind CSUEB was Cal State Monterey Bay, Humboldt State, Stanislaus State, and UC San Diego, with each of the four institutions naming seven student-athletes to this year's winter all-academic team.

The Otters topped all women's basketball squads with seven players named.

Sonoma State had six individuals awarded, followed by Chico State (5), Cal State San Marcos (4), Cal State San Bernardino (3), Cal Poly Pomona (2), and Cal State Dominguez Hills (1).



Student-athletes must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the CCAA Winter All-Academic Team:

    • Student-athletes shall be of sophomore academic standing or higher, and may include graduate students.

    • Student-athletes must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA or better.

    • Student-athletes must have competed in a Conference-sponsored sport in that season.
