Humboldt State's Madison Williams and Hanna Holland Snag CCAA Weekly Awards

SAN RAMON – Humboldt State's Madison Williams and Hanna Holland were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week of Mar. 14-20.



CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week

A junior from Brentwood, Williams improved her season record to 10-0 with four wins in four starts last week against Chico State and Cal State San Bernardino. 

With five total appearances on the week, Williams compiled a 1.75 ERA and struck out 40 batters in 32 total innings pitched. Early in the week, she logged 18 innings against then No. 23-ranked Chico State, allowing just three earned runs on 14 hits, while walking five and striking out 18 Wildcat batters.

Williams was stellar once more against the Coyotes and in 14 innings of work she allowed five earned runs on just 11 hits, walking just three batters and totaling 22 punch outs. Highlighting her weekend against CSUSB was her performance in game two of the four game series, tossing a complete game shutout with 14 strikeouts

CCAA Softball Player of the Week

Holland, a sophomore from Oakdale, compiled a team-best .560 batting average as she helped the No. 4-nationally ranked Lumberjacks to a 7-1 week with three wins over No. 23 Chico State and a four-game sweep over Cal State San Bernardino.

Take the role of leadoff, Holland went 14-for-25 at the plate, scoring twice and driving in three runs. She also totaled six stolen bases. 

Highlighting her week was her performance in the Jacks series win over the Wildcats as she recorded eight hits, including two, three-hit performances, and all six of her stolen bases. 

The HSU pitchers made little work for the outfielder, but when the ball did hit the green Holland made every play.
