Coyotes' Williams and Tritons' Lewis Earn CCAA Pitcher & Player of the Week Honors
SAN RAMON – Cal State San Bernardino senior Cassandra Williams and UC San Diego freshman Maddy Lewis were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week of Feb. 15-21.
CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week
Williams earns her second Pitcher of the Week nod this season after earning three win in the Coyotes' four-game series at San Francisco State this past weekend.
Pitching three complete games, Williams allowed just one earned run on seven hits, while striking out 21 Gator hitters in 21 total innings of work.
On Saturday, Williams led the series off with an outstanding performance, tossing a one-hitter. Then on Sunday she threw consecutive three-hit shutouts to improve her overall record to 9-3 and her CCAA record to 5-1.

CCAA Softball Player of the Week
UC San Diego's freshman continue to shine as Maddy Lewis become the program's second rookie in four weeks to snag one of the Conference's two weekly awards after leading her team to a 4-2 weekend, which included a two-game series split with No. 7 Adelphi and a 3-1 series victory at CCAA-foe Cal State Dominguez Hills.
The Alameda product hit .722 and recorded a slugging percentage of 1.111 after finishing the week with 13 hits in 18 at-bats, five runs, three doubles, two triples, and eight RBI.
Lewis was perfect at the plate in two of the Tritons six games, first in Monday's 13-0 win over Adelphi when she went two-for-two with a run, walk, and two RBI. Then in game two of Friday's doubleheader against the Toros, Lewis hit three-for-three, including two extra base hits, and totaled a walk, two runs, and two RBI.
