Chico State's Lee Gearhart Named CCAA Golfer of the Week
SAN RAMON – Chico State senior Lee Gearhart was named the first California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week for the spring 2016 season.
The Roseville product earned medalist honors at the Cal State San Marcos-hosted Fujikura Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista. Gearhart shot a 1-under par 71 to come from three strokes behind and force a sudden death playoff against CSUSM senior, Dale Smith.
Gearhart shot a 70, 72, and 71 to finish the two-day tournament with a 3-under par 213 and lead the No.1 ranked Wildcats to finishing second overall, just one stroke behind the invite-host Cougars.
