Four CCAA Athletes Post All-American Marks at NCAA Track & Field Championships

CHARLOTTE, NC - Four California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) athletes turned in All-American performances during Thursday's opening day of the 2010 NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships that are being held at the Irwin Belk Track Complex in Charlotte, NC.

The top performance was turned in by Chico State's Jimmy Elam, who placed fourth in the men's 10,000 meter with a time of 30:20.27. Abilene Christian's Amos Sang won the event, posting a time of 30:04.98.

Cal State L.A.'s Josh Como placed fourth in the men's long jump with a mark of 24-03.75. The event was won by Nafee Harris of Indiana (PA), who produced a jump of 26-01.50.

In women's action, UC San Diego's Stephanie LeFever placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 19-02.00. Racquel Anderson of Lincoln (MO) placed first with a jump of 19-11.50.

The top eight finishers in each final earns All-American honors.

With four events completed in the heptathlon, Cal State L.A.'s Tuekeha is in ninth place with 3,086 points. Angelo State's Aisha Adams currently leads the event with 3,548 points.

J. Patrick Smith of Chico State is in fourth place in the decathlon with 3,664 points. Central Missouri's Darius Walker leads the field with 3,865 points.

Day two of the NCAA Championships continues on Friday and concludes Saturday.
