As the first Division II athlete to cross the finish line at the USF Invitational, Stanislaus State’s Sabrina Garcia earned the honor as the CCAA Runner of the Week for Aug. 30-Sept. 5.

In a time of 22:16.4, the graduate student from Riverbank was the first non-Division I student-athlete to finish the 6K race at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. She led the Warriors to 8th place in the team standings, the best among non-Division I programs.

Teammate Kaela Dishion was just a couple of steps behind her in 22:19.2 to help the Stan State women.

Garcia, who was 21st overall, ran an average mile time of 5:58.3.

Stanislaus State entered the 2021 campaign with the program’s best national ranking at No. 8. The Warriors are also the top-ranked team in the West Region.

Stanislaus State will compete again next weekend, at home, at the annual Kim Duyst Invitational, Sept. 11, at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres.
